The past 3 years have flown by at warp speed. When she was 2 weeks old, my husband enjoyed teasing me by telling me I was going to blind her with our flash because I took so many pictures. My response to him was that I had to mark the moments because she would grow so fast. He was skeptical and preferred to believe me a shutterbug. Although I am admittedly a shutterbug, I knew what he had not yet learned; that he would blink and cute bootie socks would be replaced by sweet mary janes, that those drool filled kisses would be replaced by precious puckers at goodnight, that those ruffle diaper covers would be replaced by tutus and princess dresses and most of all that it would happen faster than we could ever imagine.
When she was a couple of months old, I was going through photographs on the computer. My husband happened by and caught sight of an image from her first week of life. He froze, then expressed his surprise at how much she had changed in just those few months. And with that, victory was mine. The teasing stopped... mostly. Although he will occasionally give me "the look" when we're somewhere and I'm voraciously snapping away, he's never since baulked at my desire to mark moments because he has seen for himself how fast these 3 years have flown and how fast the next 3 will.
So please remember, whether it's having photographs done by a professional (remember, you need to be in some of those moments too) or grabbing some special clicks with an inexpensive point and shoot or cell phone, be sure to mark the moments because they just simply won't last long enough.
Happy early birthday to our oldest little sweetheart!
